Noticed several (What I consider) major errors in this book. A good example was the author getting the color wrong on Burmese rubies. The Author attributed “Pigeons blood” to African rubies, instead of Burmese. This is just one of several mistakes I spotted in the text. Do yourself a favor and avoid it. There are plenty of other gemological texts out there, which are significantly better, such as anything authored by Antoinette Matlins.Product details

Dived into the book tonight. SAVVY is one helluva reference! Taking in one of my rings with "mystery stones" set in silver to find out what it really is! I have a couple of educated hypotheses after reading SAVVY and I can't wait for the appraisal. How exciting! Great reading thus far! It's an easy entertaining read that is well researched and informative.
Love the photography and info tables! ... what woman doesn't love thinking about pretty shiny things! "The better knowledge to shop with, my dear!"
This book will help you add knowledge to your collection, business or what have you. Just don't think it will be overnight, but if you stay with it, it will definitely become an asset. I gave it four stars, because some people will actually believe if they buy this book, it will transform them overnight.
